Novena for National Unity

From Knights of Columbus Supreme Council:

As America prepares to welcome a new president, the Knights of Columbus is urging its members and other Catholics to pray the Novena for National Unity fromThursday, Jan. 12, through Inauguration Day, Friday, Jan. 20. The prayer invokes the maternal intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, patroness of the United States.

In announcing the days of prayer, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson noted:

From its earliest days, the Knights of Columbus has been an organization that is dedicated to both faith and patriotism. This novena provides Knights, and all Catholics, the opportunity to serve their country in a faithful way by bringing unity in values and faith in a way that overcomes any political divisions. Our country is strongest when it is unified, and that unity is strongest when it is shaped by the timeless values of our faith.
We ask all Catholics to pray this Novena for National Unity, beginning on Thursday, Jan. 12, and concluding on Friday, Jan. 20.

The prayer can be found here.

2017 Diocesan Roe Memorial Events

Assistance needed for 2017 Diocesan Roe Memorial Events

Greetings! I hope you are doing well and enjoying a blessed Advent!  We are in the midst of our preparations for the 2017 Diocesan Roe Memorial Events on January 13 and 14.  Bishop Kelly is encouraging all North Texas Catholics to join him for these two days of prayer and public witness for the Gift of Life! With the significant schedule changes and the anticipated attendance, your help is again critically needed.  Further details on the events and how you can sign up to help are below.  Thank you so much!!
Dear Worthy Knight,

I write to you today in preparation for an important opportunity in the new year — the 2017 Diocesan Roe Memorial Events on January 13 and 14. These annual events are not only a memorial to the many children lost to abortion since Roe v. Wade, they are also an occasion to witness to the beauty of God’s gift of life.

Bishop Kelly’s letter of invitation, available here, encourages all North Texas Catholics to be a part of these events and noting several changes to the event schedule this year.

For the first time, the Roe Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday evening, January 13,at 7 p.m. by Bishop Kelly at St. Monica in Dallas and by Pastor Jesús Belmontes at nearby San Juan Diego.

On Saturday, January 14, the North Texas March for Life will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Dallas City Hall with the Procession of Roses and continue to the Rally for Life outside the federal courthouse, featuring the first rally address by Bishop Kelly, as well as Pastor Matt Chandler of The Village Church, whose sanctity-of-life videos have inspired thousands, plus many more exciting speakers!

Also on Saturday, all are invited to begin the day at the Roe Memorial Rosaries at 11 a.m.outside the Southwestern, Planned Parenthood South, and soon-to-reopen Northpark abortion facilities. For our youth, there will be a pre-march rally at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Chapel in downtown Dallas (pre-registration required at; registration fee is $10/person or 5 for $40, including lunch).

The success of these important events is dependent on an army of volunteers – chief among them, the Knights of Columbus. We are so appreciative of the critical help provided by the Knights. This year, we will again need your assistance as parking attendants and ushers at the Roe Memorial Mass and as marshals at the Roe Memorial Rosaries and the North Texas March for Life and Rally. Those who are interested in assisting with any of these roles can sign up here. State and Diocesan Pro-Life Chairman Tom Clark will coordinate your service. (You may also reach Tom at 214-282-6297 or

We would also be most appreciative if you would help get the word out about these important events, particularly with the new two-day format. Enclosed are bilingual flyers to share with your council and parish, in addition to Bishop Kelly’s letter. Additional promotional items and event details can be found at

Thank you for all you do to support these events and to advance a Culture of Life throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you and your families on January 13 and 14, as we pray and march for life! God bless, and may you have a Merry Christmas!
Grace and blessings,
Becky Visosky
Executive Director

Blood Drive

Christmas is a wonderful time of year. It is a time for hope. We hope all are Merry, we hope for Happy Holidays, we hope to give and receive nice gifts that show someone we know cares. We open doors for others that at other times of the year we might just rush though. Many in our Knights Of Columbus community are hoping you’ll show you care and open your hearts and give them the gift of life at our Christmas blood drive on Dec 17th from 8:30 – 12:30 at KC 799.

Giving 30 minutes of your holiday season can give a child a full life and tremendous joy to the anguished parents. 30 minutes can save the life of your neighbors’ mom or dad. It’s that wonderful time between Thanksgiving and the spirit of Christmas-giving.

Please click or copy and paste the link below and sign up early and give the most precious gift of all. Life. Those who sign up early and then donate will be entered into a drawing for a beautiful hand finished 8 x 10 table top picture frame just in time for that special Christmas photo.

Please call Tim King at 214-536-0288 with any questions.

Giving blood is easy – It starts with your heart ♥

Your attendance is a huge help.  Sure we need labor (see next section).  But we also need customers.  Come enjoy the Fish Fry with your family/friends.  You can take pride knowing that when you pay for your Lenten meal, you are also supporting the KC Charity Fund.

Volunteers needed

Labor needed.  Here are a few places you can volunteers:

Inside crew (lead by Michael Savage and Dave Kelly).

Setup: Each Friday afternoon we will set the tables and chairs (flipping the room from the morning event).  Start time will vary each Friday.

Service: Volunteers can help keep the room clean, bussing tables, and clearing trash during the meal from 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Tear down: Each Friday night starting at 8pm, we will clean and reset the room.  Many hands make light work!

Drive through (lead by Andy Ellard, Mark Hoops, and Jeff Becotte).

We’ll need about 10 men each Friday to run the drive through.  A couple are needed to set the drive through starting at 5:00pm.  Then around 5:30pm, we’ll get the drive through crew organized and ready to serve by 6:00pm.

Flag Crew (open)

Need 1-2 volunteers to take on the responsibility for posting and retiring the U.S. flag court along Shoreview. We also have banners and signs for the Fish Fry that will need to be displayed.

Please no outside food or beverages for this event.
