2012 Pool Capital Improvement Project Proposal
Posted by John Guerra Jr in Uncategorized on December 13, 2011
The first decade of the KayCee pool was a complete success. We have made many improvements to the pool and the surrounding area that have been met with enthusiasm and our membership is strong.
As we look ahead we know that there are many challenges to our goal of staying one of the premier Staycation facilities in Dallas. The pool committee with the backing of the board of directors has identified what we feel are areas that will maintain our status as a premier facility and help us maximize the experience for our members for years to come. The following projects are proposed and will be voted on at our general meeting on January 3rd. We look forward to your attendance and support.
Please read the attached document for more information regarding these projects and the proposed funding plans: Document

Support Religious Liberty: Action Required Before Sept. 30th
Posted by John Guerra Jr in Uncategorized on September 26, 2011
We encourage every Knight of Columbus to take immediate action to support religious freedom and rights of conscience for Catholics and Catholic institutions.
The delegates at our 129th Supreme Convention in Denver in August unanimously passed a resolution pledging our support for freedom of conscience in health care. This resolution was in response to a rule recently issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requiring almost all private health plans to cover contraception and sterilization as “preventive services” for women.
The new rule would force insurance plans to cover all FDA-approved contraceptive methods and sterilization procedures, including “emergency contraception” drugs that may cause an abortion by interfering with the implantation of a newly-conceived human being. The mandate will force individuals and groups with religious or moral objections to purchase and provide such coverage. The rule poses a serious threat to the religious freedom of both individuals and institutions.
The Department of Health and Human Service has established a period for public comment that ends on September 30th. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is encouraging Catholics to send an email message to HHS. The Bishops are also encouraging Catholics to show their support for bi-partisan legislation, the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179 / S.1467), which would ensure that federal mandates do not violate the deeply-held moral and religious convictions of our citizens.
After sending a message to HHS, Knights will be automatically invited to send a message to their elected representatives in Congress, urging them to support the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act.
The Knights of Columbus will always support religious freedom as a basic civil right. No persons or institutions should ever be forced to act in a manner contrary to their moral and religious beliefs.

First Degree Honoring Msgr. Weinzapfel
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on August 9, 2011
Dallas Council 799 conducted a First Degree Ceremony on August 9, and dedicated the event to Msgr. Weinzapfel. Those who attended were blessed to receive a short talk from Msgr. Weinzapfel about the history of the Council and his involvement as previous Chaplain.
Msgr. Weinzapfel is a long time Member of the Knights of Columbus (joining in 1942) and recounted some history from Dallas Council 799 dating back to the location on “Maple Drive” long before our location at Northwest Highway.
We are pleased to have him as our honored guest at the Degree ceremonial.
