International Student at Bishop Lynch Needs a Host Family

An international student named Jongwan Park needs a host home for this school year. Jongwan will be attending Bishop Lynch. His sister Jihye graduated from B.L. last year. Jongwan comes from a solid Christian family in South Korea, and speaks very good english.

Responsibilities include getting Jongwan to and from school or the bus stop. B.L. has bus stops around the Dallas area. Jongwan will pay his own cell bill and any school expenses. The host family will be responsible for food and transportation expenses to and from the bus stop etc. Jongwan has his own health insurance.

We hosted Jihye last year and we would have adopted her if we could! It was a great experience and we will miss Jihye when she attends the University of Illinois this fall. Unfortunately, due to work schedule changes, we are unable to host Jongwan.
If you have any questions feel free to call.

PRE-REGISTRATION LINK:  https://iwebb.carterbloodcare.org/pls/iwebb/aspn?pzp=76203&psp=SPON049570

Walk-ins are welcome, but we are requesting every interested Knight to pre-register on the Carter Bloodcare website to reserve space.  Current registrations are low and we have a lot of open time spots to fill.  If you can, please register soon!

If you cannot register, we still encourage you to come and donate blood.  The process is very fast and much appreciated.

Help Our Sisters Distribute Turkeys November 23

We’re joining with KC 6065 (St. Mark’s) to distribute turkeys and groceries at St. James Parish to some very deserving families. The Missionaries of Charity do the selection, and the KCs do the heavy lifting. It all starts at about 9:30am on 11/23 at 2104 Harlandale, 75216 (south Dallas by the Zoo). Mass will start at 9:00 in the church, and then the work begins.

KC799 has been doing this event for several years now. Everyone who went last year had a great time, and it is one of the few opportunities we have to directly interface with, and help, the needy. Please contact Brian Bessner at bbatkofc@aol.com (or just show up).

KC 799 needs two members to help promote the Football Frenzy in our council. Please contact Thomas Kelton at 214-855-7115 to volunteer. New members are especially encouraged to join the effort!

July 4th Celebration Approaches–Here is How to Help Out

KC 799 has added some new members recently, and it is imperative that new members get involved. One good way to get involved is to help out at the July 4th Celebration. Here’s how:

  1. Show up, bring your family, and have a good time. The food from the grill is great, and the pool helps to beat the heat.
  2. Volunteer for a couple of hours. Don’t feel like volunteering has to take your whole day. Show up early, around 9:00am and help to set up. Or show up after 5:30pm to clean up. Show up anytime and help out with bingo. An hour or two will do.
  3. Sell some raffle tickets. The July 4 Celebration is one of our two biggest fundraisers during the year.

There is no need to sign up to volunteer. Simply show up the day of the event, look for another volunteer, and start helping. If you have questions, please contact Jim Hale at jamesahale@gmail.com, 214-392-3230(c) or Thomas Kelton tkelton@fulbright.com, 214-855-7115(w).

See you on the 4th!
